Welcome to SeedGuard – Society for Seed Quality!

SeedGuard Gesellschaft für Saatgutqualität mbH was founded in 2011 by leading propagation and breeding organisations, processors and trade organisations in the German seed industry as a certification system for seed preparation and treatment.

Certification according to the SeedGuard scheme is voluntary and primarily serves to ensure the greatest possible environmental and health protection for the seed treatment process and the resulting product, the treated seed. In the short and medium term, it makes an important contribution to the proper and professional use of seed treatments and thus to the acceptance of seed treatment. At the same time, SeedGuard offers an extension of the certification in the area of "seed grains" to include aspects of seed quality. The seed quality criteria have been developed and agreed with the relevant organisations (associations, breeders, companies) and have been fully recognised by them. A SeedGuard certification thus meets all requirements for professional seed treatment and quality assurance of the seeds.

Participation in the SeedGuard is open to all seed preparation and treatment centres in Germany and abroad. Specific criteria apply to the participating companies, which are described in detail in the system principles.

The SeedGuard certification system is internationally recognized as part of the European Seed Treatment Assurance (ESTA).
